Dießen – At almost 83 square kilometers, the Ammersee municipality is the largest in terms of area in the Landsberg district. Therefore, in addition to the Dießen volunteer fire brigade (FFW), there are also five local fire brigades: Riederau, St. Georgen, Obermühlhausen, Dettenschwang and Dettenhofen. In order to be able to objectively check whether your personnel and technical equipment is sufficient and whether the ten-minute assistance period can be met, there is the so-called "fire brigade requirement planning". According to the Bavarian Fire Service Act, all municipalities should set up such a requirement plan.

For the market town of Dießen and its local fire brigades, the municipal council commissioned the Forplan GmbH engineering office to draw up a fire brigade requirement plan.

For more than 35 years, the company based in Bonn has been supporting the fire and disaster control agencies as well as the rescue service.

In addition to economic and organizational studies, she develops sustainable concepts to ensure the performance of non-police security.

The involvement of local actors in the course of the project not only ensures a detailed consideration of the local problems, but also guarantees the sustainable implementation of the recommended measures.

New fire station?

Stefan Mertens, expert from Forplan, analyzed the current situation after a detailed assessment of the Diessen fire brigades and created the current fire brigade requirement plan with improvement possibilities and measures. It was presented and discussed with the local fire brigade commanders and the municipal council. In particular, he found structural and organizational deficiencies in the tool shed of the FFW Dießen, which violate the accident prevention regulations. The market community then decided in its current meeting to eliminate the problem promptly and to include the necessary funds in the 2022 budget. A new fire station in Diessen was also considered. A planning office, which has yet to be found, is to carry out a feasibility study on the location for the tool shed. After the new fire brigade training center in Pürgen, at least initially, no maintenance center is planned for the entire district, more space is needed in Dießen.

The Forplan analysis also recommended "creating two more full-time positions for device maintenance to relieve volunteer work". As a result, the municipal council approved the position of a respiratory protection device supervisor, which was provided with a blocking notice in the 2021 position plan, and commissioned the administration to advertise the position accordingly.

The municipality intends to stick to the vehicle procurement plan for the next five years "within the scope of the financial possibilities".

Forplan had recommended the purchase of two large vehicles, four small vehicles and a transport vehicle for equipment maintenance.

In addition, two EX-protected radio devices were to be purchased for the Dießen fire brigade vehicle that was the first to turn out, in order to “ensure the highest possible level of safety in operations involving special risk situations”.

EX-protected means gas-tight and therefore explosion-proof.

Since the basis for the creation of a fire brigade requirement plan behaves dynamically, according to Forplan it must of course be updated, evaluated and revised accordingly at regular intervals.

This should take place in Diessen in 2026.
