More than 600 flights canceled after torrential rains in the Canary Islands

Storm Hermine, which hit the Spanish archipelago on Saturday, continues to disrupt air traffic, mainly in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.


More than 600 flights have been canceled since Sunday in the very touristic Spanish archipelago of the Canary Islands due to torrential rains and strong winds caused by a tropical storm, the manager of Spanish airports (Aena) announced on Monday.

In total, 610 flights had to be canceled and 54 diverted from and to the airports of the islands of the archipelago.

The majority of these cancellations (540) took place on Sunday, according to the report communicated Monday morning by Aena.

This Monday, September 26 at the end of the morning, Aena listed 70 canceled flights, most of which concerned the airport of Tenerife North and that of Gran Canaria.
