The head of the horticulture department in the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Ali Al-Dahuri, stated that the estimated production of the pomegranate crop for this season is about 88,737 tons.
Al-Dahouri said in a statement to SANA that the amount of the crop is distributed over 29,000 tons in Daraa, followed by Idlib with a production of 16,443 tons, while the production of Aleppo is estimated at 14,708 tons, Latakia 8,833 tons, Tartous 7,436 tons, Homs 3,894 tons, Hama 2,725 tons, Deir Ezzor 2,625 tons, Damascus countryside 1,309 tons, and Al-Ghab 770. Tons, Quneitra 600 tons and As-Suwayda 394 tons.
Al-Dahouri pointed out that the total area planted with pomegranate is about 6,720 hectares, concentrated in Aleppo and Idlib, and the production last year was about 93,382 tons.
