Nearly 75% of French people dream of owning a house, according to a consultation conducted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
Since the health crisis, house searches have taken off.
In two years, they have climbed by more than 66% over the period May-September, according to PAP.
And particularly in Île-de-France, the French region where this increase is the highest (+ 80%).

Not always having the means to afford it, many French people are forced to give up their real estate project. And suddenly, barely 57% of owners (58% of French people) own a house, according to INSEE. These are households who have left their apartments in the city center, which are less and less popular, to settle in a larger house, with a garden or a terrace, near the big cities.
France has nearly 29 million main residences (out of a total of 35.4 million homes), according to the statistics institute.
More than 16 million are individual dwellings, or more than 56%, and a little less than 13 million, collective goods (44%).
"
Individual housing is all the more frequent as the municipality is small,"
notes INSEE.
Thus, this proportion climbs to nearly 93% in rural municipalities.
Conversely, it falls to 22% around Paris, which therefore has far more apartments than houses.

Qualifying the model of pavilions with gardens as “
obsolete
”, Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister of Housing, favors “
grouped townhouses
”.
In other words, terraced houses which allow you to have shops, transport and other public spaces close to home which are lacking in housing estates.

These are the counterparts that we must offer to a more dense living environment,
” explains Emmanuelle Wargon.
It remains to be seen what fans of houses with gardens will think about it in order to be quiet.
