You discover that the name of the game has changed, suddenly there are more options for the game, a whole new story mode opens up for you, more characters appear ... and when you click on those intriguing plugins, you get a message that you need to purchase the new game. Bring the money, or stay curious.

On his face a stinking move. On the other hand, brilliant. These are not the same In-App Mackeses we are already accustomed to, this is not some new character, purchased finish, or virtual coin set that costs us real money to purchase things in the game store, we already had it all on top of the basic version of Mortal Kombat 11.

This is a complete upgrade to the game that includes the missing part of the game plot, a complete "Story Mode" added that at this point (until we buy the expansion) is locked for us, new characters we can see exist but can not choose and above all, the game name has changed.

Get to know the characters through the story

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath brings us first and foremost the expansion into the story mode. While in previous versions of Mortal Kombat the story was very superficial and quite silly at times, precisely the story of the latest version of the game is not bad at all, and even has to be said quite successful. "Story Mode" is actually a kind of beautiful film in which from time to time we also play characters against each other and thus get to know the variety of characters offered for the game and the story behind them.

If you enjoy playing in this way (as opposed to those who are only interested in options of playing against a friend or multiplayer) the expansion to the story is nothing short of excellent. Maybe even successful from the base story. If we compare it to the world of movies (after all, this is a virtual film whose part is interactive, no less) - this is a case where the sequel is more successful than the film before it.

We will not reveal the plot so as not to destroy, but there are betrayals, intrigues, conspiracies, and as expected lots and lots of blood. In addition, the plot revolves around uses in time travel so there are characters from the past, characters from the future and an encounter between characters for themselves at different times in their lives, and of course the question of what happens in the present / future when something in the past changes? In addition.

In Aftermath we get to know for the first time the full story of several characters. All of them were not part of the game Mortal Kombat 11 with its first release to the world air, with some of them being released to us by the creators of the game slowly every few months. So we could purchase the ones we chose from the offers or purchase a sort of "Season pass" that gave us access to all the same characters once released.In addition, there are 3 characters that were first opened for the game only with the release of Mortal Kombat 11 - Aftermath.

New players

The players we get in this Mortal Kombat instrument are: Fujin and Shiva. This is in addition to the other players we have accumulated since the release of Mortal Kombat 11's base game: Shang Tsung, Nightwolf and Cindel. Robocop comes as a counter to another robot from a series of movies that we also recently had access to in the range between the two game versions, the basic and the AFTERMATH, and he is the terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger in all his glory. Playing Robocop against Terminator in the Mortal Kombat interface is definitely a hallucination on the one hand and on the other hand definitely a fulfillment of a childhood dream.

This is not the first time that the guys from Mortal Kombat combine the world of movies outside of their franchise as game characters, in Mortal Kombat X we had Jason from Friday the 13th, and the alien from "The Eighth Traveler" and more ... and even in this version Of Mortal Kombat 11 we can play the character of the Joker from the Batman movie series, and even one of the characters (Johnny Cage's daughter, Cassie) has a SKIN that makes her Harley Quinn, the Joker's partner.

The expansion also brings us finishes of other types, including the beloved "Friendship" mode that we remember from very early versions of the game. For those who don't remember, "Friendship" allows the player not to brutally eliminate his opponent, but to do something likable with him (like taking a selfie, or flying a kite together), a very surreal thing in the atmosphere of Mortal Kombat.

Bottom line

The extension is ultimately an extension. This is not a completely new game, and the pricing of this expansion upon its launch was such that it almost reaches a price that justifies having a full game here. Which on the face of it pretty much sucks and can definitely keep a large amount of players away from installing the update. However, the "story mode" is fascinating, and for game lovers and Mortal Kombat universe addicts, one can get the impression that this is an update that is a must. Also the additional characters are necessary for those addicts as well.

While Robocop for example can be just a curiosity and a nice addition and not really mast, characters like Shiva and Fujin are also necessary for the development of the actor himself in one-on-one battles against friends or in multiplayer beyond their role in "Story Mode". 

And yet, Mortal Kombat is the best beating game, of all time. If you're like me, and you're just addicted to this franchise, which seems to only get better over the years - you owe it to yourself. And even if the price is excessive.
