Andrea Dovizioso will join the Petronas Yamaha Team for the remainder of the 2021 season, replacing Franco Morbidelli, who moves to Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP.
The rider from Forlì has signed with the Malaysian team also for the 2022 season and will be riding the Yamaha starting from the San Marino GP this weekend.
Returning again to the side of his former teammate Fabio Quartararo, Morbidelli therefore passes to the official Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team, already from the San Marino race.
And it will also remain there for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
"Even though I didn't expect to return to MotoGP like this, I've never closed the door on my face and it's nice to be here with Yamaha and Petronas Yamaha SRT - said Dovizioso - I wanted to try and enjoy a new situation and I'm really happy to to be back. It will be interesting to ride a completely different bike from the previous one and I can't wait to have this experience. I visited the team in Aragon and it almost felt like 2012 again and sitting on the Yamaha bike was just as good. "
