"I am already affected by the climate crisis": A man from Austria wants to take action against his country before the ECHR.

It is not possible in Austria to enforce the right to health in connection with environmental influences.

The man, who calls himself Mex M., reported that he had a temperature-dependent form of the nervous disease.

Because of the so-called Uhthoff phenomenon, he is dependent on a wheelchair from 25 degrees Celsius.

M. wants to take action against Austria before the court in Strasbourg because his country does not offer the possibility of enforcing the right to health in connection with environmental influences.

The 40-year-old is supported in his »climate action« by the climate movement Fridays for Future.

The lawsuit is due to be filed in April.

M. stands for millions of people whose basic rights are affected by the climate crisis, his lawyer Michaela Krömer was quoted in the message from Fridays for Future.

"I am already affected by the climate crisis and will be much worse in the future," said M. "I do not like to be helpless, and even less like to be without rights."

According to the German Multiple Sclerosis Society, many sufferers experience temporary weakness, visual problems or even paralysis in the heat.
