Mittenwald - The climbing tour on the Viererspitz in Mittenwald, district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, ended on Saturday, August 13, fatally for a mountaineer from the greater Munich area.

It was not until Sunday, August 14, that his body was recovered from the rough terrain with the help of a police helicopter.

As reported by the police, the 39-year-old from Munich was traveling alone on Saturday and wanted to do the climbing tour on the Viererspitz unaccompanied.

On Sunday, other climbers found him: on the approach to the Viererspitze Südwest-Grat climbing route, they noticed a lifeless male and called the police.

The accident was then recorded by the officials of the Alpine Task Force (AEG).

They quickly found out that the 39-year-old who had been involved in the accident had set off on the climbing tour the day before and that he also fell that day, suffering fatal injuries.
