The outgoing mayor did not conclude an agreement with the EELV candidate. It will have to be extracted from a triangular to keep the last bastion soc

In Lille, yesterday's allies make today's enemies. The climate is tight and PS mayor Martine Aubry seems to have definitely drawn a line under a possible alliance with the ecologists in the second round of the municipal elections.

“Last Thursday evening, our teams met […] Since then, and despite our reminders, Lille Verte 2020 has not followed up on this first meeting. We take note of it, ”said Martine Aubry's team in a press release. "We were ready to change governance [...] However, Lille Verte 2020 was braced on a distribution of seats which in no way reflects the results of the 1st round", adds the press release from the list "Lille in common , Lille with confidence ”.

"Martine Aubry will lose alone"

These words ulcerated his opponent EELV Stéphane Baly, who denounced him an "abrupt electoral campaign" on the part of Martine Aubry, "and his solitary and authoritarian management of the coronavirus crisis".

Referring to substantive disputes - continued advertising, development of video surveillance, reluctance on universal income and housing for the most disadvantaged […] - the environmental team ensures that “its door remained open to the end” . "The dry and false conclusion brought to this episode does not grow its instigator," she laments.

“Martine Aubry will therefore go alone in the second round. She will lose alone. This is a sad end for a figure in French and Lille political life, who refuses to register in the history of the world after. "

Aubry facing his allies of yesterday

The second round of municipal elections in Lille seems very open. Although coming second, environmentalists had achieved a historic push, with almost 25% of the vote. But still, the scores in the first round remain marked by very strong abstention, beyond 60% in Lille. It is therefore a triangular that takes shape with a fairly exceptional cast.

The Greens are indeed allies of Martine Aubry in the current mandate. Stéphane Baly is himself a municipal councilor responsible for energy. Violette Spillebout, the LREM candidate who came 3rd in the first round, is the former chief of staff to Martine Aubry. She had reached out to Stéphane Baly on the evening of the first round, without success.
