Aged 72, this retired farmer was indicted on March 20 for “complicity in attempted murder by spouse” for a first criminal project at the end of 2020 aimed at eliminating Magali Blandin, a 42-year-old mother, as well as for “aiding and abetting spousal murder”.

She was remanded in custody, as was her husband Jean Gaillard, indicted on the same charges.

"His place is not in a remand center"

The investigation chamber of the Rennes court of appeal also ordered the continued detention of Zaza P., the husband's Georgian neighbor.

This is a first decision that we must accept.

We will look into, I hope, a judicial investigation that will advance in a sufficiently sustained manner so that the phase of provisional detention of Monique Gaillard does not drag on, because her place is not in a remand center.

», His lawyer Me Gwendoline Ténier told AFP.

The alibi question

At the hearing, Thursday April 1, Jérôme Gaillard's mother broke down in tears.

The debates focused on the existence of serious and consistent evidence, the risk of loss of evidence and fraudulent consultation.

The parents and their son were together more than a month after the incident.

If there should be any consultation, it has already taken place.

In addition, the living

spaces

and communication tools have all been placed under seal,

”declared Me Ténier.

According to

Ouest France

, the parents allegedly provided their son with an alibi on the day of the tragedy, calling and sending emails from his home to make it appear that he was present.

"

During this time, Jérôme Gaillard's mother was gone shopping, She is not involved

", however indicated Me Gwendoline Tenier, lawyer Monique Gaillard, whose comments are reported by

Ouest France

.

In January, Jérôme Gaillard's parents would also have loaned their son the sum of 50,000 euros, but the lawyer told the regional daily that the couple wanted "to

finance his divorce and his ability to live

".
