A judicial investigation was opened after the rape in a meeting on Saturday at dawn of a 40-year-old woman attacked by two men of Sudanese nationality in the city center of Nantes, we learned Monday from the prosecution.

“A judicial investigation has been opened by the prosecution of the chiefs, in particular of rape and sexual assault committed with several aggravating circumstances since, in fact, they are accused of acts of rape in meetings and in a state of manifest intoxication”, detailed the Nantes public prosecutor, Renaud Gaudeul, during a press briefing.

They would be unknown to the police, according to the prosecutor, quoted by 20 Minutes.

A 20-year prison sentence

The facts occurred on Saturday shortly before 6:00 a.m. on the island of Nantes, near the yellow crane.

The victim explained that she was going to a friend's house when she was assaulted.

The two alleged perpetrators, arrested shortly after the events, are two men of Sudanese nationality, in a regular situation, aged 17 and 27, according to the prosecutor.

“The two individuals incur in this respect a sentence of 20 years of criminal imprisonment and their imprisonment has been requested by the prosecution”, he added.

The victim "shows traces of violence on the entire body, from the lower limbs to the head, passing through the upper limbs", explained Renaud Gaudeul, adding that she had an ITT of 10 days.

A third man was taken into custody on Saturday.

According to our colleagues from 20 Minutes, the CCTV images have given reason to his story, according to which he had stayed away from the attack.

He was tried on Monday for insulting a police officer and rebellion.
