The door of a mosque located in the north of Nantes was destroyed by a fire on the night of Thursday 8 to Friday 9 April and an investigation for degradation of place of worship was entrusted to the departmental security, according to sources concordant.

A judicial investigation is underway into this fire, the origin of which is currently unknown,
" the Loire-Atlantique prefecture told AFP.
Police said the fire was reported at 2:43 am and a “
wooden double-leaf door
” was destroyed, “
but a closed (blackened) metal shutter was still blocking the entrance
”.
The fire was caused by a "
fire of containers filled with cardboard boxes placed in front of this door
", further explains the police.

", confirmed the firefighters of Loire-Atlantique, congratulated by the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, in a tweet.

We declared the accident to our insurance this morning and we will go and file a complaint this afternoon,
" he added.
It will be necessary to repaint the facade and repair the destroyed door, but the mosque remains accessible via its two other entrances, he explained.
