Olympique Lyon will loan the German national soccer player Dzsenifer Marozsán to sister club OL Reign in Seattle for six months. In the team of world champion Megan Rapinoe, she wants to improve further in the US professional league NWSL, "as a footballer and as a personality," said the 104-time DFB player in an interview with her French club. The season in the NWSL started a few days ago, OL Reign wants to play for the title with Marozsán and Rapinoe.
"It's a great project for OL Reign and a good step for me to see a different culture, to get to know a different country and a different style of play," said Marozsán.
When asked about her goals, the midfielder said: "To win every game, no matter with which club, including the national team, of course." With Marozsán, Lyon goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi will also move to Seattle (Washington state).
The 29-year-old Marozsán wanted to move to the USA together with Bouhaddi last year, the best football league in the world would have been the next logical step in her career.
It was then that she was associated with the Utah Royals.
But the corona crisis crushed the transfer, Marozsán extended in Lyon and won the Champions League again.
She won the premier class four times with the club, but on Sunday the defending champions were eliminated in the quarter-finals after an own goal in the closing stages against league rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
The second leg was initially postponed after a corona outbreak at Olympique, and the defending champion's team was in quarantine.
