The new traffic regulations, which came into force on April 28 with the StVO amendment, have been in effect for a few weeks. Many offenses in road traffic are now punished much more severely. For example, drivers are more likely to lose their driving license * if the speed limit is exceeded than was previously the case. However, the strict regulations are met with strong resistance - the ADAC is also critical.
Adjustment of the new catalog of fines of the StVO amendment: ADAC fears confusion among drivers
Most recently, Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer announced that he would like to reverse some of the high penalties in the new catalog of fines *. These are sometimes "disproportionate". With an adjustment, Scheuer hopes to restore the driver's "sense of justice".
The ADAC also supports the decision. However, the automobile club is calling for action soon. Transport Minister Scheuer announced an agreement with the individual federal states until autumn 2020 , but the ADAC considers a quicker clarification than necessary. According to ADAC traffic president Gerhard Hillebrand, this would otherwise lead to " great confusion among drivers ". He therefore fears a "flood of objections" if no action is taken sooner.

New catalog of fines: ADAC demands clearer differentiation of penalties
The new traffic regulations have ensured that there is no longer a clear distinction between light, medium and gross traffic violations, explains Hillebrand. A fair balance of fines, points and driving bans must therefore be restored.
Hillebrand explains this with a specific example: If you drive 15 km / h too fast in urban areas, you have to expect a small penalty. But already at 21 km / h above the speed limit there is a gross violation - therefore the proportionality is missing .
For Hillebrand, the Flensburg system * has proven its worth: "With the reform of the Flensburg point system in 2014, a distinction was made between those who were once inattentive and those who were incapable of being taught." Instead of increasing the penalties, he therefore believes that better enforcement and monitoring by the police make sense.
