La Mayenne, which has several outbreaks of Covid-19, one of which has spread to the population, slightly exceeded the alert threshold with 50.1 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants detected in 7 days, according to the health agency Santé Public France (SpF).

A test campaign has been launched in this department, reminding that the virus is still there. Guyana (332.3), badly affected, also exceeds this alert threshold of 50, according to data posted online on Tuesday by SpF.

As of July 11 (weekdays rolling over seven days, from July 5 to 11), the incidence, that is to say the number of cases detected in a week per 100,000 inhabitants, is also above the threshold of vigilance, fixed at 10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, in Seine-Saint-Denis.

During the week of June 28 to July 4, this rate was less than 10 / 100,000 inhabitants in all departments of metropolitan France except for Mayenne (45 / 100,000). In Mayotte, the incidence rate, of 16.5 according to the latest data, is in decline compared to the previous week (35.8).

A reproduction rate set off again in mainland France

Incidence is one of the indicators for monitoring the evolution of the epidemic. This also includes the rate of positive virological diagnostic tests (which allow you to know if you are infected and detect a possible resumption of the epidemic) and the effective reproduction rate (R) which corresponds to the average number of people that a patient contaminates.

When on average an infected person infects less than one, the epidemic decreases. If it infects two others (R = 2), the epidemic spreads; if it infects one (R = 1), the epidemic continues. This indicator started slightly up again in mainland France (R = 1.05).

French Guiana, Hauts-de-Seine and Indre top hospitalizations

According to SpF data posted online on Tuesday evening, the departments with the highest number of people hospitalized in relation to their population are Guyana (51.6 hospitalizations / 100,000 inhabitants), Hauts-de-Seine (38.5) and Indre (37.3).

In Mayenne, the number of people hospitalized has doubled, from 8 a week ago to 16 to 14 July. Santé Publique France specifies that a delay of up to 9 days may intervene in the rise in the number of cases by laboratories and regional health agencies, and that the data transmitted are provisional and can be corrected later.
