This is what the ICE seats of the future will look like.
Deutsche Bahn presented the new design on Wednesday.
Travelers should "feel as comfortable at 300 km/h as they do in their own living room," said Deutsche Bahn boss Richard Lutz.
And the "Pro Bahn" initiative also praised the "great progress".
The wishes of customers prevailed in the face of competition.

The 1st class seats will be warm grey, with wider seat, back and head cushions.
In addition, more different seating positions can be adjusted.
The seat covers in both classes are made of fabric with 85 percent wool.

The seats should be comfortable, but above all durable.
On average, an ICE seat is used by 1,500 travelers a year, but it should last for decades.
The new materials were therefore intensively tested for abrasion, light resistance and cleaning.

A lot of wood is used in 1st class, for example on the backs of the seats, the tables and the wall coverings.
The railway promises a homely atmosphere.

Another detail from the 1st class: coat hooks on the backrest.
"We are sure that we will get even more people excited about climate-friendly rail and that the climate will also benefit," says Bahn boss Lutz.

The new design is still only available in the demonstration model.
From December 2023, the first trains in the ICE 3neo series will offer the new equipment.
From then on it will be used in all new long-distance trains.
