The latest iOS 16 update apparently means that the battery life of many Apple smartphones suffers significantly.

Many users are annoyed.

Munich - The reason for the rapid emptying of the iPhone battery cannot be said at this time.

However, a connection with certain apps could be possible,

writes

Chip.de.

Users could check this possibility in the settings of their iPhone.

Under "Settings / Battery" users will find an overview of which apps are using how much capacity.

Incidentally, Apple has not yet commented on possible battery problems in iOS 16.

The company recently released a mini-update to iOS 16.0.2 without mentioning a possible improvement in battery life, the online portal criticizes the tech giant.

The next major update to iOS 16.1 is currently still in beta testing.

New iPhone update: Battery life has deteriorated

Meanwhile, Apple magazine

9to5mac.com

conducted a non-representative survey of iPhone battery life after installing the update.

63 percent of readers state that the battery life of their iPhone has gotten worse after installing iOS 16.

Around 20 percent believe that the running time has remained the same and around five percent believe that it has even improved.

The remaining ten percent of the readers surveyed gave other reasons.

Possible reasons for the high battery consumption:

  • 1. Every time a system update is installed, iOS takes a while to re-index all user data.

This process can take a few hours or even more than a day depending on how much data the user has stored on the device.

    During re-

    indexing

, users often find that the iPhone gets hotter and the battery drains faster than usual.

After the re-indexing is complete, everything should go back to normal.

  • 2. At the same time, there are some new features that may cause iPhone to consume more power.

For example, iOS 16 offers an option that enables haptic feedback when

    typing on the virtual keyboard

    .

Apparently, according to Apple, this feature can affect runtime.

  • 3. Even the

    new lock screen

can affect battery life depending on usage.

If you set up a widget or wallpaper based on the weather app that periodically tracks the current location, you will ensure that the battery will drain faster than using a lock screen without GPS access.

  • 4. Additionally,

    Apple Magazine

    points out that the

first release of a new iOS version

    usually contains more bugs.

These could also lead to the battery being discharged more quickly.

It's not the US company's first software problem.

Most recently, a security vulnerability at Apple caused a stir in August.

Nevertheless, the iPhone business is growing.

Even the high prices don't stop convinced "Apple followers" from buying these devices.

Apple's sales in the third business quarter, which ended in June, increased to just under $40.7 billion.

Compared to the previous year, this was 39.6 billion dollars.

It's just a shame that moderator and Oktoberfest friend Kai Pflaume obviously didn't know anything about the update error in the Apple system, otherwise the moderator could have

asked Apple boss Tim Cook at the

Oktoberfest right away.

Instead, he taught him the Bavarian sentence "

Schee, that ma sit amiably together again".
