In full advance of the second wave of the pandemic, this Wednesday a new record of deaths from coronavirus was registered in Argentina.

The Government confirmed 663 deaths in the last 24 hours.

In addition,

24,079 new cases

were confirmed

.

The daily part showed a very high level of positivity,

35%

.

It is more than triple the 10% recommended by the WHO.

It arises from the daily part published by the Ministry of Health based on the data reported by the provinces in the last 24 hours.

After having exceeded 3 million cases and 65 thousand deaths, Argentina remains among the

15 countries most affected

in both variables since the beginning of the global health crisis, taking into account the accumulated numbers.

In recent weeks there has been a strong growth in the occupation of intensive care, mainly in the AMBA.

This Wednesday, PAHO warned about the health situation in America and pointed out that "adults of all ages - including young people - are becoming seriously ill and many of them are dying."

This has a strong impact on the occupation of intensive care, for which the agency called on the countries of the region to

further increase their capacity for beds and staff training

, but also asked to reinforce prevention and primary care, already "Nor can we extend capacity indefinitely."

Regarding Argentina, particularly, concern was expressed about the

rapid increase in infections

registered in this second wave, compared to the first outbreak.

In the same sense, the Minister of Health of the Province, Daniel Gollán, warned that "due to the variants of the virus, patients who enter intensive care rarely have the possibility of leaving alive."

"More and more people are losing their lives, it is not only to lower the cases so as not to clog the system, but it would be a disaster if we allowed so many cases to allow so much mortality," he completed.

Regarding the vaccination plan, the City of Buenos Aires seeks to add doses.

In this framework, the head of Government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta held a meeting this Wednesday with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States government MaryKay Carlson, at the headquarters of Uspallata.
