Eliud Kipchoga, the Kenyan marathon runner, broke the world marathon record today (Sunday) with an amazing result of 2:01:09 hours and thus actually broke the previous record that was also his from the Berlin Marathon 2018 which was 2:01:39 hours.
The marathoner, Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016, continued to prove that he is the best runner in history for a distance of 42.195 km with a historic run that gave him the gold medal. It was the 17th marathon that Kipchoga won out of 19 in which he participated.
Although Kipchoga did not He still fell short of a time of two hours in the challenging run, but he also aims to break this record by the end of his career after in 2019 he set 1:59:40 hours in a record that was not recorded because he used alternating pacemakers during the marathon.

In the women's category, Tigist Aspa was the surprise and won the gold, recording the third best result in history with 2:15:37 hours and smashing the Berlin Marathon record.
