The head of the municipal police of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), suspected of having continued to receive his salary from the national police, is targeted by an investigation and has been suspended, we learned from judicial and municipal sources this Thursday.
Richard Gianotti heads the municipal police of Nice, which he integrated in 2017 and is suspected of having continued to receive his salary as a national police officer for several years, said the prosecution, confirming information from BFM Côte d'Azur.
The suspended director
An investigation aimed at him was opened for "misappropriation due to suspicion of undue perception of treatment of a national police officer", according to the prosecution.
"An investigation, unrelated to his professional exercise as director of the municipal police, was opened against the (...) commander of the National Police, on secondment," said the town hall of Nice.
"It was immediately decided to suspend, as a precaution, this official, for the duration of the investigation," said the town hall.
