André Löschner and Katharina Kuhn want to apply again after leaving early.

Erding / Cologne - The district of Erding was strongly represented in the sixth preliminary round of "Ninja Warrior Germany".

Three locals wanted to conquer this year's obstacle course of the RTL broadcast.

In addition to André Löschner (28) from Finsing and Katharina Kuhn (24) from Neuching, the Erdinger professional boxer Uwel "Hector" Hernandez (29) was one of the athletes.

However, none of them make it to the semi-finals.

Löschner had applied as a candidate for the fourth time.

This time the 28-year-old received an invitation to the TV recordings in Cologne.

However, Finsinger did not travel there alone.

His good friend Katharina Kuhn, with whom he likes to go bouldering and climbing, also received mail from RTL.

The interior decorator had submitted an introduction video for the first time (we reported).

What both did not know: In the TV recordings in early July, there was a third district representative among the 40 participants: super middleweight boxer Hernandez.

The 29-year-old, who became WBF World Champion last Saturday, remembers that the application came “spontaneously among friends”.

“We sat together and said: We'll apply.

And then everything went very quickly. "

How the three athletes fared in July, the whole of Germany was able to follow on television last Friday.

As usual, the obstacle course was designed with a wide variety of, sometimes treacherous, stations.

Traditionally, the last obstacle was a steep wall with the time-stopping buzzer at the top.

Löschner and Kuhn were only shown in rapid succession in the TV broadcast.

The Finsinger made it to the penultimate obstacle pool, but could no longer hold on properly when switching to the last spring bar.

"A good performance is not enough," said cult presenter Frank Buschmann.

When Löschner dipped into the water, he was “very shocked because it happened so quickly.

And then of course I was disappointed because I can actually do a lot more, but I was just so nervous and that's why I was a bit hectic, "said the landscaper.

“But you learn from these mistakes.” Löschner narrowly missed the Himmelsleiter station, which he had recreated and eagerly practiced in his garden.

For the recordings, Kuhn went straight to the start after Löschner.

“The last few weeks have already shown that this obstacle is treacherous,” said presenter Laura Wontorra at the beginning of the tunnel jump and ring slide station.

The Neuchinger can now confirm this.

Kuhn let go of the ring too early, fell into the water and was eliminated.

“That shouldn't have happened,” says the 24-year-old, who was very angry with herself at that moment.

"But I was just before my master's exams and that's why I wasn't fully concentrated."

Before his course run, Hernandez was even featured in a film in which the native Cuban talked about his family and his job as a professional boxer, among other things.

The 29-year-old also made an impression on the moderator duo.

“That's a bit of a chunk, the guy,” said Jan Köppen.

Buschmann described the boxer as a “model athlete” who was “perhaps a little too heavy” for the course.

When Hernandez actually dropped out at the second obstacle because he only held on to the second of the three rings with one hand, Buschmann puzzled: "Why?"

The professional boxer himself is very grateful that he was able to participate in Ninja Warrior.

“Even though I was eliminated immediately, it was a cool experience.” Hernandez has great respect for the other participants.

“If you want to survive there, you have to be a professional.

There are extreme climbers - they are really brutal athletes. "

The steep wall at the end of the course is particularly impressive.

"It doesn't look that extreme on television, but when you stand in front of it - that's really brutal," says Erdinger.

Kuhn and Löschner are also very happy about this experience.

“Something like that gives you a kick to work on yourself a little more and that you may have to find something to counteract your nervousness,” says Löschner.

Both want to apply again for the preliminary round in 2022.

"We very much hope that we will get another chance," explains Kuhn.

Löschner's motivation: "The buzzer is my big goal."
