The flow of files from the interministerial committee for industrial restructuring (Ciri) provides an excellent indicator of the health of the French economy.
This entity of the Ministry of the Economy, located on the fourth floor of the Treasury building in Bercy, has the mission of helping companies with more than 400 employees in difficulty to develop and implement solutions to ensure their sustainability, and thus save as many jobs as possible.
“Emergency” senior civil servants have several instruments at their disposal for this purpose: negotiation with company creditors, support for collective proceedings, granting of public loans, freezing of tax debts, etc.
According to its annual report, in 2021, a year of clear economic recovery, the Ciri received 34 new files, after a peak of 70 files in 2020 as the health crisis hit the country.
