A comment from Merkur sports editor Robert Gasser

It's a cold shower for all football fans.

Even the SpVgg Unterhaching, which traditionally isn't overrun by spectators anyway, has to continue to play in front of empty stands.

The district office recommended that SpVgg refrain from hosting the third division game against VfB Lübeck in front of spectators due to the increasingly serious corona situation.

The club followed the recommendation of the authorities - and so the next ghost game is taking place in Unterhachinger Sportpark this evening.

League competitors TSV 1860 and Türkgücü continue to play in front of empty stands in the Grünwalder Stadium, which is just a stone's throw away. And that's good. It cannot be that whole school classes have to stay at home and daycare centers are closed while football fans sit happily together in the stadium.
