Emma Stone officially closed the deal with Disney
to replay the 101 Dalmatian villain in the sequel to Cruella, following the success of the original film which, like other recent studio titles such as
Black Widow
or
Jungle Cruise
, premiered simultaneously on cinemas and Disney +.
With a
box office income of 222 million dollars
, to which should be added the sales for premium access in the streaming service, the story that tells the origin of the iconic villain of 101 Dalmatians will have a continuation that will be directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Tony McNamara.
The news that Stone has signed on for the
Cruella
sequel
is somewhat surprising given the recent controversy over the release of Disney movies in theaters and on Disney +.

Scarlett Johansson's case against Disney
Scarlett Johansson has sued Disney for the launch of Black Widow in this hybrid format, considering that it deprives him of the percentage of the profits at the box office that he agreed to by contract and there were rumors that
Stone was considering a similar lawsuit
.
"Disney intentionally induced Marvel to break the agreement, without justification, to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her deal with Marvel," said the lawsuit filed by the actress and also executive producer of the film, which
is it would have suffered the equivalent of some 50 million dollars
.
The truth is that Disney, by putting the movies on its own streaming platform, loses nothing, but wins everything.
Scarlett Johansson, who in addition to starring in Black Widow was its executive producer, would have lost to earn about 50 million dollars.

"How is this? Because it does not share the income from the box office of the cinemas, which is usually 50% for the owners of the cinemas, and the other 50% for the distributors or" owners ", in the case of Disney, of the film. So everything that is collected by streaming is net profit, "as Pablo Scholz explained in one of his
wide open
columns
.
After the news of Johansson, the rumor jumped that Emma Stone, the protagonist of Cruella, could be thinking of also suing Disney for exactly the same, as reported by GQ Magazine in a timely manner.
The argument, once again, was based on how the premiere on the platform would have affected the film's box office revenues.
Emily Blunt too?
In parallel, it also
emerged that Emily Blunt would also join the list
of litigants against Disney, with the premiere of
Jungle Cruise
as the axis of the claim and controversy.
That would not be unreasonable considering that both
she and her husband already faced Paramount
for the launch of
A Quiet Place 2
ahead of time on the platform of the production company.
Emily Blunt, who along with her husband John Krasinsky already faced Paramount, would now go against Disney.
However, the possibility of Stone taking the same path as Scarlett
is totally ruled out
with her signing to reprise her role as Estella Miller in
Cruella 2
.
Although her presence is not confirmed, it
is
also
to be expected that Emma Thompson will repeat
as Baroness von Hellman, a designer who is Estella's great rival.
Along with Stone and Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Mark Strong complete the cast of the original film.
