Water fountains like at the Stachus?

Nothing will come of it.

Because there is no money for it, no fountain is built on the Poingen market square.

Poing

- Just like at Munich's Stachus, fountains were supposed to shoot out of the ground on the Poingen market square: In July 2018, the local council decided to build a ground-level fountain.

Order volume: around 200,000 euros.

The project has been shelved, as Mayor Thomas Stark said when our newspaper asked.

"We didn't put any more money into the budget for this."

For financial reasons (two years ago nobody knew anything about Corona and the consequences), the municipal council had agreed not to implement the project.

In addition, in two public tenders (in December 2018 and early 2019), no company had applied to build the well.

The reason given by Poings' former mayor Albert Hingerl at the time was that the order books of many companies were full.

The community still wants to implement the project, said Hingerl at the beginning of 2019.

The marketplace remains as it is: gray

Initial plans had already been made; according to Stark, the costs for this had not yet been significant and were part of the overall package for the redesign of the market square and the new town center. Eight floor nozzles were planned from which the water should shoot up to a height of 1.50 meters. The floor would have been designed with small stone paving, between 80 blue and 50 yellow glass blocks should have been installed - the colors of the municipality of Poing. The floor of the market square now remains as it is: gray.
