Today's attack against the police and the military deployed to protect the Turin-Lyon construction site in Val di Susa was "an unprecedented violent attack". This was claimed by the Turin Police Headquarters, working to identify those responsible for the clashes in which two policemen were injured and five vehicles were damaged.
The clashes broke out at the end of the procession that started from Giaglione as part of the music and cultural festival 'High happiness', organized by the No Tav under the patronage of the Municipality of Venaus. The demonstrators walked the Gallo Romano path until they reached the barrier gate located on the Strada delle Gallie. Here about 300 activists, misrepresented, cut the concertina in various places using shears.
According to the reconstruction of the Police Headquarters, at the same time 300 individuals, using the high paths, reached the fence where they launched the attack, throwing stones, smoke bombs and "high potential" paper bombs.
The antagonists were repelled by the police through the "calibrated use" of tear gas. The clashes, which began around 4 pm and ended around 7.30 pm, also affected the areas adjacent to the motorway which, for safety reasons, was closed to traffic for over an hour.
