An expert in invisibility, specialists in "crystals" capable of modifying the propagation of waves, pioneers of photovoltaic energy or champions of the quantum world were among the candidates.
Awarded by the Swedish Academy of Sciences, the prize was awarded last year to two experts in climate change modeling, the American-Japanese Syukuro Manabe and the German Klaus Hasselmann, as well as the Italian Giorgio Parisi, for his work on the interaction of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from the atomic to planetary scale.
