The Nordwestbahn plans to modernize a total of 34 trains in the regional S-Bahn fleet from January 2023.
At a press conference today in Bremerhaven, the company presented the public with an already converted train that has been running in Bremen and the surrounding area for two months.
The modernized lift has a new video surveillance system, LED lighting and more sockets.
Bremerhaven - Two years ago, the Nordwestbahn was awarded the contract to continue operating the regional S-Bahn Bremen / Lower Saxony until 2036.
The new transport contract, which will apply from 2022, includes trips every half hour from Bremen to Bremerhaven and Oldenburg as well as a direct line to Wilhelmshaven during rush hour.
Since the timetable in the north-west will be denser in the future, the Nordwestbahn announced that it would increase its fleet to 51 vehicles.
