North Korea fired an unidentified projectile into the waters off the east coast of the Korean peninsula, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on Tuesday.

Japan's Defense Ministry said the projectile fired by North Korea on Tuesday was likely a ballistic missile.

The country's Coast Guard said it alerted vessels to standby for more information and to report if a fallen object is found, without approaching.
