(ANSA) - OSLO, AUGUST 14 - The Norwegian walrus Freya was killed: the large marine mammal had become a summer attraction in the Oslo fjord to the point, however, that it posed a danger to the public and the authorities did not want to take any risks.

The pinniped was euthanized.


    "The decision to euthanize the walrus was made on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of the continuing threat to human security," the head of the Norwegian Fisheries Directorate, FrankBakke-Jensen, said in a statement.
