After more than 20 years, Google wants to change the way we share and consume information online.

At the Search On conference that took place yesterday (Wednesday), the company presented Multisearch (combined search) - a completely new way that allows you to search for information in a combination of images and text at the same time, similar to how you might point to an object around you and ask your friend a question about it.

Meanwhile, the feature is available in the US as a beta version, and in the coming months it is expected to expand to more than 70 languages, including Hebrew.

How will it work? Here is an example: Interested in searching for a car of a certain color? Upload a picture of it to the Google search engine with the color you are looking for , for example "red", and so you will get exactly what you imagined (hopefully).

Google, it seems, is trying to stop the flight of young users who prefer to search for information on Tiktok and Instagram.

"Cameras have existed for hundreds of years, and they are generally considered a means of preserving memories, and nowadays also a way to create content. But a camera is also a powerful tool that allows us to access information and understand the world around us - so much so that your camera becomes your next keyboard," says Google.

"So that you can search for what you see when you use your camera or a photo you have, we introduced Lens in 2017. Today, the era of visual search is here - in fact, people use their Lens to answer 8 billion questions every month."

In addition, Google introduced another feature called "Multisearch near me", which allows you to take a picture of an unfamiliar item, such as a dish or a flower, and then find it in a nearby place or shop, such as a restaurant or flower shop.

First, this feature will launch in the US this fall in the English language.

The technology giant is also upgrading the map application (Google Maps) and unveiled a new feature called immersive view (realistic view), with the help of which you can get an impression of the place (the weather or the load of the location) and feel it even before you enter it.

The feature will be available in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo in the coming months.

"Let's say you want to meet friends at a restaurant. You can zoom in on the neighborhood and the restaurant to get a sense of the place on the date and time you plan to meet, and learn about the busyness of the place, how it looks in a certain weather or how busy it is," said Google.

"By combining our advanced image database with the models we have developed that enable forecasting, we can give you an idea of ​​how the place will look tomorrow, next week, or even next month."
