Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Olympia Milan tomorrow (Friday, 18:00) in the semifinals of the tournament named after Pavlos Yanakopoulos.
The annual event, in which the Yellows have already taken part in the past, was organized by Panathinaikos for the fourth year in the Ouaka Hall.
The Greens will compete in the corresponding match against Anadolu Efes, the European champion for the past two years.
"I want to thank Panathinaikos for inviting us to such a high-level tournament," said coach Oded Ketch.
"We are in the middle of a challenging preparation for many reasons. Maccabi has built a team almost from scratch and it will be interesting to see where we currently stand against the best teams in Europe. For me to be here and see the picture of Pablos is very exciting. I was part of one of the greatest teams in the history of Panathinaikos. For Maccabi it is Exciting, for me it's really special."
"I want to thank everyone, the club and the team are very happy to be here," said captain John DiBartholomew at the official press conference to mark the opening of the tournament named after former owners Panathinaikos.
"Pablos Yanakopoulos has done a lot for European basketball. We are already waiting to get on the court."
