Since the death of at least 54-year-old Nanda in August - the exact age of Nanda is unknown - 38-year-old Jenny has been the only elephant in the residence, which was specially designed for the needs of old elephants.
Neither she nor Saida particularly like the company of other conspecifics.
If necessary, the two elderly animals could be separated from each other without isolating them, said the zoo spokesman.
