Old man in Ertan, Qingshuiwan, drowned and died in hospital

At 8 o'clock this (12th) morning, an old man was suspected of drowning while swimming at the Second Beach of Clear Water Bay. The swimmer was rescued and called the police for help. The old man fell into a coma and was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital by ambulance, but he was certified dead after the rescue failed. The police are investigating the cause of the accident. The new crown pneumonia epidemic continues. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced earlier that all gazetted beaches under its jurisdiction will be temporarily closed from July 14. The beach’s bathing facilities, changing rooms and toilets will be closed, and life-saving services will also be suspended.
