Ukraine's Defense Ministry has warned Russian citizens against vacationing on the annexed Black Sea peninsula with a video showing the explosions at the Saki airbase.

"We advise our esteemed Russian guests not to visit Crimea in Ukraine unless they want to spend an uncomfortably hot summer vacation," the video caption reads.

No amount of sunscreen would protect Crimean vacationers from the dangerous effects of smoking in unauthorized areas.

The video itself says, "You had a few options for this summer." This is followed by images of beaches, including those in Cuba and Turkey.

"You chose Crimea, big mistake." Images of the explosions at the Russian air base and of people fleeing the beaches after the detonations follow.

The video says it's time to go home.

The clip is musically accompanied by the Bananarama song »Cruel Summer«.

The cause of the explosions remains unclear

It is still unclear what exactly led to the violent explosions at a Russian military base on the Crimean peninsula, the information is sometimes contradictory.

In the meantime, however, there are increasing reports of the damage that has been caused.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, nine Russian warplanes were destroyed at the airbase in one fell swoop.

Russia, in turn, claims no aircraft were damaged;

there had only been several ammunition explosions on a camp site.

New satellite images from Planet Labs PBC

are now growing doubts about Russia's version.

They show that at least seven fighter jets were completely destroyed and others damaged.

The images were taken after the explosions on Saki.

Several intact aircraft can still be seen in photos of the same base that were taken before the detonations.

The US broadcaster CNN also reports on the new footage: Measured by the number of aircraft destroyed, it could be one of the most destructive days for aircraft in the Russian Air Force since World War II, the report says.
