Look closely, that's what the Fürstenfeldbruck Museum says these days.

On the occasion of his 30th birthday, the house invites you to look for traces in the permanent exhibitions “Kloster Fürstenfeld” and “Life in Bruck around 1900”.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- It's about finding heads.

They represent the many faces of the museum and the stories behind the works.

"30 years - 30 people - 30 days" is the name of the campaign, which begins on Saturday, September 25th with an open house and runs until October 25th.

With free entry, live music and a big birthday cake, the museum celebrates the anniversary with its visitors and at the same time invites them to look at the exhibition with new eyes. Armed with an information sheet, you can go in search of the 30 selected heads and will come across details in the pictures and sculptures that you may have overlooked so far.

The heads can currently also be seen on posters across the city. Among them is, for example, the historically most significant head - that of Ludwig the Bavarian, son of the monastery founder, great patron of Fürstenfeld and still ubiquitous in Puch today, as he died unexpectedly here on October 11, 1347. Probably the most enterprising head belongs to Ignaz Leitenberger. After the secularization in 1803, the Bohemian manufacturer bought the entire monastery complex in order to set up a factory here. The plans failed, but instead of going bankrupt, Leitenberger sold the monastery back to the Bavarian state - for double the price.

The most enigmatic head sits on an oak statue.

An evenly pretty face under a late medieval women's hood - but who does it represent?

Maria von Brabant, Anna von Schlesien-Glogau or Mechthild von Habsburg?

All three come into question, because all three were wives of Ludwig the Strict and were immortalized together in a group of figures on the tomb of the monastery founder.

The most expressive head could have come from an expressionist painting, but it is much older.

The oil painting by an unknown artist was created around 1800. It shows a tortured face with a wide open mouth and rolled eyes - the representation of a soul in purgatory.

The hair is blown upwards, the dark red base tone gives an idea of the hell of flames that the artist had in front of his inner eye.

The youngest heads can be seen in three particularly successful children's portraits by the Bruck painter Carl Robiczek (1837-1918).

While two of them are in the style of carefully staged salon painting and presumably represent Robiczek's own daughters, the third shows a little girl in peasant clothes.

More than 70 special exhibitions in 30 years

When it opened in 1991, the Fürstenfeldbruck Museum consisted of only one department - dedicated to the Fürstenfeld Monastery, in whose former economic wing it found its permanent home after an eventful prehistory.

In 1995 the second section was added: “Life in Bruck around 1900”, a lively and vivid look back at the urban society of that time with its strictly regulated duties for men, women and children.

In 2002 and 2005, the third section followed in two sections, adding further exciting facets to the museum concept.

The exhibits on the subject of "Celts, Romans, Bavarians" are housed in the attic.

The department emerged from a cooperation between the museum and the Pre- and Early History working group and the state office for non-state museums.

What makes the museum an attraction again and again are the more than 70 special exhibitions that have been shown since 1991.

In most cases, regional aspects and actors are placed in a broader context in a broad range of topics.
