Amsterdam police have not yet made any arrests after the violent robbery that Eran Zehavi's wife and child went through today (Sunday) in the late afternoon at their home. The PSV Eindhoven striker stayed with his team preparing for the away game against Willem II, but was released from the match immediately upon learning of the bad news, and made his way urgently back to Amsterdam - where he lives with his family.
According to reports in the Netherlands, one of the robbers impersonated a messenger who wanted to deliver a package to Shai Zehavi and as soon as they had a chance, the two burst into the house. The footballer's wife was attacked in front of the children and the robbers tied her and them in handcuffs, while they went through the contents of the house.
"The investigation is in its infancy, it is still unclear what belongings and how much money was stolen," said a police spokesman, who arrived at the scene with large forces, including a helicopter.
Investigators will question the occupants of the street and closed the arena in a police film, when Zahavi arrived at the scene and was updated on the developments.
His wife made her way to the police station to testify and although the attack was violent, the Netherlands reported no injuries requiring hospital treatment.

The actor's brother, Avi Zehavi, wrote in his Instagram story: "We appreciate your concern, everyone is fine thank God."
PSV players provided more details from the moment Zehavi was informed of the incident on the team's bus. According to a report by journalist Rick Alprink, the actors said that "his wife was in a panic and updated us on the phone about the robbery". Captain Denzel Dompries said: "Suddenly the news went through the whole bus. We were sad and of course helpless. We experienced everything live. It is unbelievable that such a thing happens. It is a terrible experience. We want to strengthen Eran and his family. It was hard to play with this knowledge, but We are professionals and we did our job. "
Marco van Hinkel added: "Zehavi spoke Hebrew on the bus and I immediately realized that something bad had happened. It is not a simple event and we are strengthening him and the family."
Roger Schmidt, PSV coach, added: "We are glad no one was hurt, but it must have been a terrible family experience. We were all in shock, we wanted to win for Eran."
Zehavi arrived with his family in the Netherlands in September 2020, after signing for PSV Eindhoven.
The wife and children of the Israeli national team striker live with him in Amsterdam, even though the city is about an hour and a half drive from Eindhoven.
The Zehavi family lives in the Bittenfeldt district, which is affiliated with the Jewish community in Amsterdam.
It is a quiet neighborhood with a synagogue and Jewish schools, and most of the population living in it belongs to the middle and upper class.
