A number of people were killed yesterday (Monday) during an attempted rescue of hostages from a house in Salem, the capital of Oregon in the United States.
The suspect in the custody of the hostages was shot to death.
Oregon Police have opened an investigation into the case.
CNN reported that according to a press release issued by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, negotiations were conducted with the suspect via phone call, but then "shots were fired."
However, the exact death toll has not been released.
In addition, no police officer involved in handling the incident was reportedly injured.
