Motorcycles and thermal scooters will pay for parking in Paris from 2022, announced Tuesday, the deputy mayor of Paris in charge of the transformation of public space, EELV David Belliard.

Guest of the RMC morning, David Belliard, deputy mayor of Paris EELV (Europe Ecology the Greens), reconsidered the decision to pay parking for two-wheelers in the capital.

As part of a general increase in parking prices, the town hall has announced that it wants to end, from the start of 2022, free parking for two-wheelers equipped with a thermal engine.

The two electric wheels therefore escape measurement.

The price is set at 50% of that of cars, which means that apart from any fixed price, the price will be 3 euros per hour to park a two-wheeler in the center of Paris.

There is a financial aspect, we are not going to say the opposite, but what we want is to regulate more public space, we want to put an end to an injustice.

Why do the owners of motorcycles or thermal two-wheelers not pay when we ask motorists to make an effort?

“Explained David Belliard.

"

These are vehicles which pollute, which make a lot of noise

," continued Anne Hidalgo's deputy.

It comes at a cost to society, to the city.

Ozone pollution is 500 deaths per year.

It is a cost that must be offset in very small part by the effort that we are going to ask for.

Charging parking for two-wheelers was a campaign commitment by the municipality. A “motorized two-wheeler pass” system will be offered, with a subscription of 70 or 90 euros per month. Home care professionals traveling in motorized two-wheelers will benefit from free access, and other professionals from a specific price, had detailed David Belliard during the announcement on Tuesday, June 15. 5,000 parking spaces must be created in addition to the 40,000 existing for this category of vehicles. Motorized two-wheelers can continue to park in the car spaces. But "
