Paralympics winner Elena Krawzow was diagnosed with a brain tumor during an MRI. The 27-year-old swimmer announced this on Saturday via her social media channels. "I've been plagued by headaches and dizziness since Tokyo," wrote the Berliner. After many appointments on vacation, she wanted to clarify the cause and have an MRI done. "On Friday evening I got an MRI with contrast agent and then it became quite clear that it was a tumor in the upper left hemisphere," said Krawzow.

Last Sunday she was briefly admitted to the Berlin Charité, followed by a tissue sample on Monday.

"Now it's time to wait two excruciatingly long weeks until all the results are there," wrote the Paralympics winner from Tokyo.

The visually impaired top athlete had won gold in her starting class in Tokyo over the 100 meters chest.

"This news takes us all with us, and yet we are full of hope that everything will turn out well," said the German Paralympics team.

“Dear Elena, we are with you with our thoughts and best wishes.

Stay strong! «The swimmer has canceled all of her appointments until further notice.
