It is one of the great markers of the Games in Paris.

In 2024, some events will be open to the general public.

A cycling race during the Paralympic Games, but especially the marathon during the Olympic Games.

To allow 20,024 amateur runners to tread the same sumptuous route as the international stars - the one that will lead from the Hôtel de Ville to the Invalides, passing through the Opera, the Louvre, the Château de Versailles and the Eiffel Tower - the challenge is colossal.

The date of this marathon for all will be revealed in a few weeks, once the authorizations have been validated, in particular by the police headquarters.

It will "stick as close as possible" to the dates of the Olympic marathons (August 10, 2024 for men, August 11 for women) and will take the same route.

A 10 km event will also be open to 20,024 participants, from 16 years old.

“We wanted to have a shorter distance, which is more accessible to people who do not necessarily want to prepare for a marathon”, we explain at Paris 2024.

Put on your sneakers, everyone can try their luck!

To date, 3,000 bibs have already been allocated for the 42.195 km event, during various operations such as Olympic Day, races labeled Terre de Jeux or the chase against Eliud Kipchoge, the world marathon record holder.

Information about how to win your Olympic bib is regularly sent to people registered with the Paris 2024 club. Tickets can be won during races for one of the many challenges (on average 4 per month) organized via the Marathon app everyone, but also during draws, so that the stopwatch is not the only criterion.

"We don't want this marathon to be reserved for those who are very successful, that the only way to get a bib is to set a time," continues the organizing committee.

The idea is that someone who runs the marathon in 4 hours can project themselves.

Parity will also be required, since as many women as men will be at the start.

The event will also be open to people with disabilities.

“Running fanatics or beginner athletes, everyone can try their luck at the starting line!
