Winger Neymar will be absent from his club Paris Saint-Germain for six to eight weeks due to injury.
The French leaders confirmed that on Monday.
The reason for this is a sprain on his left ankle, which he sustained in Ligue 1 in a 3-1 win over the bottom St. Etienne.
With the score of 2: 1 for PSG, Neymar avoided a tackle from his opponent shortly before the end, where he twisted and had to be replaced afterwards.
"The tests that were carried out yesterday evening confirm that Neymar Jr has sprained his left ankle and that his ligament is also affected," said PSG on its website.
"It's likely to be out for six to eight weeks."
This means that Neymar will definitely be out until the end of the year, which also applies to the last group game in the Champions League.
On December 7th, Paris Saint-Germain will meet Club Bruges there.
There, the team around world star Lionel Messi will be able to cope with Neymar's absence - with four points ahead of third-placed RB Leipzig, the Parisians are already qualified for the round of 16.
