Parish home Hausham: It probably boils down to demolition and residential development

The parish home in Hausham has been closed for two years due to mold.

It is still not clear what will happen next with the building.

But there are many indications of a demolition.

Since then, nobody has entered it, reports church curator Sebastian Klattenbacher. With one exception: when the Agatharied parish church was renovated, a few things were stored here. But they are now out again – as well as almost everything else that could still be used. According to Klattenbacher, no buyer has yet been found for the chairs in the hall.

The church administration is currently working with the archbishop's ordinariate on how the rectory itself can be used.

The church ruled out a renovation, which Klattenbacher could have imagined.

It is now clear that the building will be demolished.

The property is then to be sold with heritable building rights.

With the aim of creating affordable rental housing there – ideally for locals.

Investors in social housing?

Klattenbacher reveals that talks are being held with two interested parties.

One of them is the Catholic settlement work.

According to the church custodian, the building regulations are in place.

There are enough taller buildings in the immediate vicinity.

Given the current construction and land costs for an area in this location, hardly any real estate investor on the open market would be interested in such a project, Klattenbacher assumes that this could be part of state-subsidised, social housing construction.

In the ordinariate, where all the threads come together, one tries to exercise restraint.

When asked by our newspaper, press spokesman Hendrik Steffens only said "that the project is still in the identification phase".

The responsible department is currently unable to provide any further information.

Replacement for rectory still questionable

For the time being, the question remains open as to whether the parish will get a replacement for its parish home.

It has been clear for a long time that this will happen on a much smaller scale, if at all.

As reported, a so-called supply cube in front of the church was recently discussed.

So a small building with toilets, kitchen and a lounge.

Klattenbacher assures that there is still a desire for it.

"That would be ideal for events such as receptions at First Communion, Confirmation or weddings."

Three months ago, another letter was written to the chief financial officer, reports the church minister.

"But we're still waiting for an answer here."
