The "Peißenberg Miners" see themselves better positioned than in the previous year.

They are confident going into the Bayernliga round, although they are plagued by bad luck with injuries.

Peißenberg – The “Peißenberg Miners” played six friendlies in the run-up to the Bayernliga season that is now beginning.

Four of them ended victorious.

Only two games, against the Oberliga teams SC Riessersee and EV Lindau, were lost.

In terms of sport, things went quite well for the ice hockey team in the preparation.

The coaching team, consisting of Sepp Staltmayr and Stefan Ihsen, sees it that way too.

"We are satisfied, the team has continuously improved," is the conclusion.

At the beginning of the year, Staltmayr/Ihsen succeeded Christian Kratzmeir (now coach at ERC Lechbruck), who surprisingly resigned, and extended their commitment for the new season.

However, the good preparation of the "Miners" was marred by the accident of Sinan Ondörtoglu and Valentin Hörndl in training, when they sustained serious injuries in an unfortunate collision.

Both will be out for weeks.

"The whole team now has to compensate for the two failures," says Ihsen.

Despite this blow to the neck, the "Miners" are confident about the new season.

"We already had a good team, and now good players have been added," Ihsen sees Peißenberg better positioned than last season.

Peißenberg Miners are confident about the season

Inflows and outflows balanced each other out.

Jonathan Kornreder (Pfaffenhofen) and Tobias Estermaier (Schongau) each joined league competitors.

Markus Andrä, Tobias Maier, Andreas Kreutterer and Simon Sendl gave up completely or took a break.

The "Miners" filled the gaps with players from their own youth, but also with experienced players.

Dominic Krabbat returned to the Ammer after his detour to EC Peiting last season.

Christoph Frankenberg also switched from the Oberliga team to the “Miners”.

On the offensive, the two US twins Brett and Derek Mecrones, who last played in Duisburg, should provide the goals.

“The newcomers have settled in well and are integrated.

They all help us further,” reports Ihsen.

In goal, the Peissenbergers can continue to rely on the services of Korbinian Sertl, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the Bayernliga.

Youngster Thomas Zimmermann acts as back-up.

In defense, the Peißenberg continued to rely on the veterans Dominik Ebentheuer, Manuel Singer, Maximilian Malzatzki, Maximilian Brauer and Martin Lidl.

Lukas Bucher and Bernhard Schmid take care of the youthful component in the "Miners" defence.

In attack, the Peissenbergers were able to keep top scorer Niko Fissekis, who was courted by other clubs and who had come from Miesbach the previous year.

The final season for the Miners captain

Captain Martin Andrä also continues to storm for the "Miners", although the 31-year-old has announced that he will be over after the season.

In Dejan Vogl, the Peissenbergers have another very experienced striker.

Moritz Birkner, Denis Degenstein and the two youngsters Max Willberger and Tim Vogl also whirl on the offensive.

Not to forget the two injured, Valentin Hörndl and Sinan Ondörtoglu.

"We have shared the tasks in the 'special teams' on many shoulders and we have three rows that are dangerous in goals," Ihsen sees his squad well positioned.

As far as the placement is concerned, the coaching team doesn't want to lean too far out of the window.

"Some teams have strengthened well, so our goal is to reach the play-offs first," says Ihsen.

At the same time, he makes it clear: "Anyone who wants to get in there first has to win against us." Last season, Peißenberg was seventh after the preliminary round, and the team finished the promotion round in sixth place.

The teams from Miesbach and Königsbrunn are the favorites for a top place.

At the start, the Peißenberg team will have to deal with EHC Waldkraiburg on Sunday, which also belongs to the extended group of title contenders.

The Sunday home games of the "Miners" now begin at 5.45 p.m.
