A 1.5 liter PET bottle is 31 centimeters high.
A full-grown female Lorikeet, a species of parrot from the island of New Guinea, also measures 31 centimeters on average;
that is a problem, at least for the female Lori.
On the morning of November 19, 2020, Indonesian police opened a box on a ferry in the port of Fakfak, in western New Guinea.
There were 74 plastic bottles in it.
In every bottle there was a woman's Lori.
64 were still alive.
Female Loris are popular pets, the Petguide.com advisor describes them as follows: »The Loris are intelligent and energetic and have a tendency to play, discover and fool around.
So make sure that the birds can roam around the house. "
Depending on the country and provider, female loris cost up to $ 1,000.
In their native New Guinea they are a protected species, they are not allowed to be caught in nature.
They live on tall trees, are shy and avoid people.
You can only sell female loris that come from certified breeding facilities.
