Pistorius: FDP plan for online investigation insufficient

Lower Saxony's Minister of the Interior, Boris Pistorius (SPD), believes that the "quick freeze" procedure preferred by the FDP to combat crime on the Internet is insufficient.

The spokesman for the SPD interior ministers said on Tuesday after the joint conference of justice and interior ministers in Munich that it was not a suitable replacement for providers storing IP addresses without cause, since there had to be a concrete suspicion first.

Munich - If the IP address is not saved beforehand, it is too late in suspicious cases for the perpetrators to be identified.

Pistorius emphasized that the federal legislature must exploit the legal framework that the European Court of Justice gives the federal states in this context.

In order to be able to successfully take action against the perpetrators on the Internet, it is also important that the investigators are able to use artificial intelligence to analyze the huge amount of data.

The police could not otherwise evaluate this in a reasonable time, but it was also not reasonable.

Pistorius emphasized that a system is currently being tested in Lower Saxony, but it is not yet working correctly in the pre-evaluation of images.
