Geretsried - Christoph Schramm and Dr. Alexander Fink symbolically planted an apple tree on the premises of Franco Fresco, manufacturer of the frozen pizza “Gustavo Gusto”. 270,000 more trees are to follow in Araruna / Paraíba, one of the poorest areas in Brazil. To this end, the Geretsried company donated 90,000 euros to the “Projects for poor people” association. Christoph Schramm, founder and managing director of Franco Fresco, recently presented the corresponding check to Alexander Fink, chairman of the aid organization.

"Projects for poor people" is based in Deggendorf in Lower Bavaria. The association has been active in Araruna, a small town with 20,000 inhabitants, for 16 years. "With the money we can plant 240 fruit and useful trees every day," said Fink in a press release. The local population and above all the children and schools would be involved in the rearing and distribution of seedlings. In addition, people would be made aware of how to deal with the environment in a sustainable manner. This gives the residents the opportunity to make a living, and CO2 is bound.

The Franco Fresco company has been advertising for some time that a tree should be planted every six minutes. Keeping the promise is still the goal. “That's how long our frozen pizzas are in the oven on average,” explains Schramm. Franco Fresco has been certified as a “climate neutral company” since May. In terms of sustainability, they have long been associated with “projects for poor people”.

Why are the trees planted in Brazil?

There you can achieve significantly more with less money, says Schramm.

As a result, the planting is much more efficient there.

“Climate protection is a global issue.

And no matter where the CO2 is bound, everyone benefits equally, ”emphasizes the managing director.

The trees would be planted in the Sertao, the rather dry hinterland.

The area is not affected by the "clearing madness in Brazil".
