Plan C - and still in good spirits

The construction team of the Holzkirchen Cycling and Running Club (RSLC) is preparing the 15th Holzkirchen market run, which will take place virtually for the first time in the Corona year.

Holzkirchen

- “Stop, where is the spirit level?” From behind, one hand reaches out the measuring device and places it on the wooden poster stand, which has to be placed neatly.

You can tell that the group working at the entrance to the parking lot at the Baumgarten sports field is well rehearsed.

From October 1st to 31st, running enthusiasts can go out on the track and then report their time online.

There are three and ten kilometers to choose from and maybe even encourage one or two newcomers to join in.

The "wonderful running route over Baumgarten, Buch and Kleinhartpenning", about which the head of organization Wilfried Hackenbroich raves about, would be reason enough to give it a try.

In any case, they don't want to withhold the route from people this year either.

It was known early on that the market race would not take place as usual and a plan B was first worked out.

Hackenbroich's daughter Anna, a sports student and intern in an agency for sports events, was largely responsible for this.

Together with her father, she worked out how to resolve bottlenecks and straighten the field.

That would have been possible in principle.

"But we would have needed so many Corona officers for that, it just doesn't work," says Hackenbroich.

And even if there had been enough helpers, the uncertainty would always have remained.

For example, a completely planned run in Würzburg recently had to be canceled.

The RSLC decided on Plan C and made the 15th Holzkirchen Market Run into a virtual running event, like the Schliersee Alpine Triathlon, for example (we reported).

Taking part is very easy: You can go the whole of October on the route that begins at the parking lot on Baumgartenstrasse and leads from here, well signposted, over the varied distances of three or ten kilometers.

The ten-mile run will not take place this year for safety reasons because roads would have to be crossed.

Also for safety reasons, the RSLC recommends running only during the day.

Only times reported between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. after the time change) are included in the evaluation.

Since there are no marshals on site, there will be neither age group ratings nor winners' prizes.

With a bit of luck there is still a reward for the athletes.

Shopping vouchers for Bergzeit and day tickets for Bayerische Regionalbahn will be raffled off among all registered graduates.

The long period offers runners a lot of flexibility.

Maybe it will encourage one or the other school class to do sports together, the organizers hope.

Fresh air and the opportunity to keep a distance are strong arguments.

Hackenbroich thanked the market town in advance.

"She is in great shape", he is pleased about the great understanding and active support, among other things with the maintenance of the running track.
