Plant for the energy transition in Petershausen

Petershausen - If the energy transition is to work, a lot more electricity will have to come from renewable sources in the future.

A way on which Petershausen could now take a decisive step forward.

Because in the local council, the project developer JP Joule presented the concept for a solar park between the hamlet of Lindach and the district of Ziegelberg.

The company GP Joule is not a newcomer to the region, but is also developing a photovoltaic open space system in neighboring Weichs.

The Petershauser plant would be built on a 20.5 hectare field owned by a local farmer.

Mayor Marcel Fath (FW), like the entire municipal council, is open to the project.

In fact, when it comes to green electricity, “a lot of additional construction is still necessary in our country, and money is also coming in,” said Fath.

Andrea Stang (FW) also considers it a “very important step if as much electricity as possible is generated on site”. The electricity generated in ground-mounted systems is also the cheapest, added energy officer Ernst Nold (FW). Günter Fuchs (CSU) also called the project “basically very good”. It was important to him that the necessary compensation areas be created in the eastern area of the facility in order to ensure the greatest possible distance from Ziegelberg. The inverters, which could generate noises, should also be mounted away from the location.

A conceivable emission from solar surfaces would also be the glare effect, said Mayor Fath.

“Because of the location and incline of the site, however, this is hardly to be assumed.” Nevertheless, all the necessary expert opinions would of course be obtained.

With these specifications, the council voted unanimously to draw up a development plan.

At the same time, the zoning plan will be changed accordingly.

17 to 18 megawatts of electricity annually

Fath called what could be created in the field on the western outskirts of Petershausen "a really big part". On the almost 21 hectare area, 17 to 18 megawatts of electricity are to be generated annually, explained Andreas Fleischmann and Vanessa Varga from GP Joule, who were connected via video conference. Mathematically, this yield is sufficient to supply 4900 households with electricity. However, since the technical development of solar modules is rapid, the result could be even higher. The solar park is surrounded all around with a dense, multi-row hedge, which serves as an ecological compensation area. As usual, the plant is planned for a period of 20 to 30 years, and GP Joule guarantees that it will be completely dismantled.

It would be conceivable to upgrade the system and continue to operate it, if requested by the municipality and the owner, explained the GP Joule planner when asked by municipal councilor Margarete Scherbaum (FW). The generation of hydrogen from solar power is basically possible, but not currently planned in Lindach, local councilor Josef Gerer (CSU) learned when he asked. The electricity generated will be marketed directly and the Munich public utility company has been in contact for a long time, according to the planners.

It will be a year and a half before the first electricity flows into the grid.

Time to discuss a possible involvement of the municipal enterprise (KUP) in the municipal council, which already owns four solar systems outside of Petershausen (see info box).

There is also interest in the community energy cooperative, as FW municipal council and cooperative board member Ernst Nold signaled.

A participation of the citizens via a so-called crowd financing is also conceivable for the investors.

Regardless of such considerations, it is certain that Petershausen will use a solar park in Lindach to generate the local electricity consumption on site, as the town hall chief emphasized.

His conclusion: "Finally a balanced energy balance for Petershausen!"
