Diabetic follow-ups, tele-expertise as well as orthoptic rehabilitation are also offered by the center.

After a year of delay linked to the Covid, the ophthalmological teleconsultation center of Saint-Quentin (Aisne) opened its doors in June.

This is a pilot program initiated by the Point Vision brand, in partnership with health insurance.

This northern city was chosen because it is one of the many medical deserts in France.

In less than three months, more than 500 people consulted an ophthalmologist there.

This center is a hybrid medical model.

Each patient is first received by appointment by an orthoptist.

After a pre-consultation, the data is transmitted in real time to an ophthalmologist located in the nearest Point Vision center, located in Lille.

The consultation takes place by video in a dedicated room.

"

If some are a little surprised at the beginning, the satisfaction rate is very high in the end,

" says François Pelant, founder of Point Vision, created in 2013, which has 48 centers in France.
